These murders can still be
solved
Some of Derbyshire’s cold cases can still be solved according to
a Derbyshire true crime writer. A BBC Freedom of Information Act request revealed 1,143 unsolved
murders in Derbyshire Police responded to the request, saying they have ten
unsolved murders dating back to 1966, although a book written by Scott Lomax
includes cases as far back as 1908. Scott, author of the book Unsolved Murders in and Around Derbyshire
said: “Whilst there are many unsolved murders in the county and across
the country, there is every hope that with the passage of time, and new
developments in forensic science, that new light can be shed on old crimes.
It is my belief that by raising awareness of unsolved crimes, there can be
renewed hope that killers can be brought to justice.”
