Dando appeal pleases author
A CHESTERFIELD author who wrote a book about the murder of TV presenter Jill
Dando says he is pleased the man convicted of her killing is to face a
re-trial.
Scott Lomax, aged 25, of Brimington, spoke out after Barry George's
conviction was overturned yesterday at the Court of Appeal.
George's legal team argued a single particle of firearms discharge residue
found on his coat did not indicate guilt, and the evidence had
"misled" the jury.
Mr Lomax said: "I am pleased the judges reached the same conclusion as I
reached during the research of my book. Barry George is the victim of a
terrible miscarriage of justice."
