A CHESTERFIELD author is campaigning to free a convicted
mass murderer from jail.
Scott Lomax, aged
26, who is also a parish councillor in Brimington, was involved in the fight
to free Barry George for the killing of broadcaster Jill Dando.
He is now helping convicted mass murderer Jeremy Bamber to clear his name.
Bamber was jailed after being convicted of murdering his adoptive mother,
father, sister and nephews, who were shot dead in a farmhouse in Essex in 1985.
Mr Lomax has written a book about the case which re-assesses all the
evidence.
Since it was published, new evidence has been presented to the Criminal Cases
Review Commission which Mr Lomax says "raises serious doubts" about
Bamber's guilt.
The evidence is to be assessed before a decision is made on whether Bamber should
be granted the right to appeal against his conviction.

Bamber: Evil, Almost Beyond Belief?
